Why Don’t I Leave?
LIVELLO 01 | 1 anno di esperienza

LIVELLO 02 | Da 2 a 4 anni di esperienza

LIVELLO 03 | Più di 5 anni di esperienza

Before starting a show, there is always what is technically called the “catasto moment”: the instant when we ask ourselves why we are throwing ourselves into a show without a safety net instead of having a secure job at the land registry.

“Why don’t I leave?”, instead, is the question that all characters should ask themselves once they step on stage.
If I don’t have a goal, if I don’t know the motivations that drive my character to move and make certain choices, everything ends up feeling fake and incoherent.
If, on the other hand, we know the whys of the scene—if we have a valid reason and we say it to ourselves and to the others—then we can play with it and become a stimulus for our fellow performers on stage.

If I can’t answer the main question, then it’s better to find an excuse and leave the scene.
Because saying you’re going to make coffee is better than standing still on stage with no idea what to do.
